For people who keep letting the calendar fill before they add what matters.
Mike debriefs a trip to Londolozi in South Africa, tracking lions with Boyd Varty and visiting the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg. He almost did not go because the book was unfinished and work was busy.
They discuss Boyd's idea of following the next track, and flipping the calendar so the experiences that make you feel alive go in first.

Hey everybody, welcome to the Inner Circle. My name is Kevin Dahlstrom. With me as always is a member of my Inner
Kevin Dahlstrom.
How many followers do you have on Instagram or on Twitter? The most alive I felt in the last six months was when I blocked a five-day writing retreat, I cranked out 25,000 words in five days. I was like, man, I've organized my life where those times are fairly sparse. They're hard to come by.
How many followers do you have on Instagram or on Twitter?
First of all, I think you and I are fairly far along on our journey toward living our, our ideal life. That being said, it's
it's just an iterative process of refinement. Encourage is a really operative word in what you just said. You've sort of a built a career, at least on Twitter, of talking about how you've basically created your life as the ideal end state. To burn that all down and go, yeah, I've done it and I'm about to just redo and redo this all again. It actually does take a fair amount of courage because it would be easy to protect and defend. I've made all the right decisions. I built this, this reputation as the guy who created my ideal end state. And so, you know, I really love the idea that you continually show your work. You're like, hey, I I'm still shifting. I'm still changing. I'm still questioning.
And it really is it's a courageous process. Well, let's let's wrap up and I'm going to ask you two questions to kind of wrap this up., number one. Exactly the way the things. So I'm curious of like, is anything going to fundamentally change now or at some point? Yeah, two great questions. So
, so as. As far as the book really is this process, possibly could, which is, I don't tell anybody the answer. I can't know the answer to what is going to make your great life. I' I know how to ask really great questions. That's that's really the process that we're talking about. I
And it's really flipping my life where I want my life to be. And then punctuate that with experiences with friends, break it up. And really it's, it's about living life at the total to polar opposite extremes. Yeah, silence, solitude, space punctuated with peak experience, full send, and then just finding the balance between those two things.
Contrast, man. That's that's I'm the same. Awesome. This is what an amazing experience. I think hopefully, this will inspire folk folk like, look, when you're in the day to day, you know, trenches. You lose perspective and it also feels like, you know, you can't get away and do, you know, you know, you can't get away and do the reality is, all that stuff can wait. And you've got to prioritize, you know, even if it's just a, you know, we're coming up on a holiday weekend right now as we record this like, even if it's a three day getaway to the mountains to the beach, whatever, like, be I mean, here's my takeaway is, you know, we'd be two years ago. It was, it was not a cheap trip. Leading up to even six months, the last six months leading up to it.
There was so many times and I was like, man, you know, if we hadn't booked this two years ago, I wouldn't be doing this. I've been in a season of life. It's busy. I'm trying to finish my book. You know, we're running another business and doing a lot a lot there. And even the week before, like, I was not, I was not looking forward to it. Like, I was like, man, this is not coming at a good time.
